After Marcus' death, the Order faced some hard times. They constantly fought about who should take leadership over the Order. Some said his son would be good. Others argued he was too young, being at the age of 26. Jethas, Marcus' nephew, also had supporters. Though without leadership, the Order managed to hang on for a couple of months, until things had begun to get out of hand. Their opperations were starting to fall apart. Morale was low. They needed a leader. Now incredibly vulnerable, the Order was desperate.

Now going into the fourth month without leadership, people began to side with different Councillors and Lieutenants. By far, the most popular was Gabriel. As he was in training, he didn't have time to deal with guild affairs. Over time, things had begun to fall apart completely. People began to seperate into smaller groups. Gabriel, now taking a break from his nearly complete training, took action. He rallied as many as he could. Now he decided to unite the followers of Light. Leading his supporters, he told the Church of his decision to recreate the Shield under a new name, "The Army of the Light."
