I was thinking about introducing an Arena/Coliseum type-event, in which players would sign up and participate in epic RP-battles against each other, surrounded by spectators in a conflict for fame and glory. I'd set this event in either the Gurubashi Arena, Amphitheatre of Anguish, or the Dire Maul Arena. I just wanted you throughts about this event, and I set up a poll to see how the community would react to it. I plan to have NPCs all around the Coliseum to make it more life-like, with everything from vendors to spectators to the announcers. This event will happen twice a week on the same days, and at the end of every week we'll crown a new Grand Coliseum Champion, who will have the honor of hosting the next week's Arena match.

| I think its a great idea.
But, what about team battles. Like the WoW Comic Zamoonda posted? I think that'd be pretty cool, but I think people should make new characters specificly for this, considering there'd be a high risk of death. Not to mention a GM would have to look after the event to make sure no one god-modded and the like.

| Cool stuff! I would like this idea, though I look forward more to the Icecrown offensive and winter-grasp roleplays then anything. | |

| Wintergrasp is shut down.
I can't spawn NPCs anymore, and I don't really have the commitment to do it so I shut it down.

| I think if we're going to do this you'll have to let people know that ere cannot be: demons, demons in disguise, dragons, dragons in disguise, so on and so forth.
It should be limited only to trained -mortal- or sentient humanoids only.

Hmmn..so someone -does- read 'em. I thought I'm doing an empty work since I recieved only a single reply. I never replied so I didn't interrupt threads with comics on them Read to the bottom, I finished posting all the comics, World of Warcraft: Varian Comics have only 25 Issues, I made reserves. To Topic: Great idea, I believe aswell Vendryas -- With the right doodads and commands this could be a very, very interesting Event. Not everyone has to be actually fighting, you can aswell be part of the crowds, and I ponder what can happen in the crowds..

| If ANYONE can remember from the Azshara site, I posted this same exact idea, buuuuuuut, people QQ'ed so.. It didn't happen. That's why there was that one announcement on the site telling all the players how they dont need actual "permission" from the GM's to post they're own event.. Yeah..
Now, ON TOPIC TO THE POST
If I could suggest one thing, that is all. Our colorful world of RebelWoW is filled with diverse characters, ranging from the bland to the nigh-ridiculous. Many people play powerful/irregular characters, such as...
Lycans, Dreadlords, Dragons, Eredar, Demons, "Demi-Gods" [ Self-Proclaimed, of course.], Grand < Insert profession/job/talent >, Champions, Archmages, etc.
I'm not implying that if you play a powerful/irregular character you're wrong, or snobby, or selfish. So in all that's divine, do not think so.
These powerful characters could be somewhat hard to defeat, let alone battle. Many of them possess the ability to avoid damage easily, possibly cause instant death, etc.
WHAT I AM IMPLYING, IS:
Few players from whom I have actually fought, and or seen fought, have RP'ed a basic fighter. I myself have owned several toe-to-toe melee characters, which I rarely stray far from, because it is a role that I excell at. So let's say two players create new characters, player A has created a Dragon, Dreadlord, and Assassin before this new character. Player B has created a Civilian, Soldier, and Ogre. Player A is pitted up against Player B in the event, and the two start to go at it.
Player A: < He pushes his feet from the ground, gaining a foot or so of leverage over his enemy, and thrusts his Sword downwards towards his foe's upper body. >
Player B: < He throws his Shield up in a hurry, as the Sword penetrates its way through the upper right corner of the shield. While his enemy's weapon is stuck in his own shield, he sends his Sword down below his shield in an attempt to slice his legs. >
Player A: < Rips his sword from his enemies shield and hops backwards, sending his own sword at his enemy's, knocking it sideways. >
This is my own opinion, though still a valid point; Fights like this will continue on and on and on and on and on until one of the Players eventually says, "Okay.. I've lost an arm, my leg is slashed up, I'm missing an ear, and my teeth are knocked out. I might as well just call it quits. /takenextattacktotheface. What I'm getting it at, is that afew or more people dont know how to call incoming attacks as deadly, mortal, or weak, etc.
Which is why, I think adding an absolute FAIR "equation" of sorts, will reduce the likeliness of these encounters. This equation I speak of, is of course, the way of /roll fighting.
Roll fighting dominates my old retail server, and I have come accustom, and have a sight fear for it. I love the sheer and utter fairness of it, but that also means you could be as dead easily as your enemy, no matter who you are, which is where the fear comes in, the fear of losing your oh-so-beloved characters. I think roll fighting would benefit this event, dearly.
THE TABLE OF RESPONSE
Essentially the 10 Commandments of /Roll fighting, Roll fighting is based off of a roll of 1-10. You roll before you attack, and when your enemy attacks. It is up to the player to determine the scale of the wound or attack, based on the number of your roll. The roll is a guideline, to the sheer unpredictability of combat. An example, shall we?
1- Very Weak Attack/Backfire/Mortal Wound/Death 2- Weak attack/Mortal or Near-Mortal Wound/Knocked Unconcious 3- Fairly Weak Attack/Heavy Wound/Knocked Unconcious 4- General Not Too Shabby Attack/Wound 5- Medium Attack, capable of swaying either way/Minor Wound 6- Serious Attack/Block/Parry 7- Heavy Attack/Block/Parry/Dodge 8- Heavy Attack/Block/Parry/Dodge/Evade 9- Very Heavy Attack/Block/Parry/Dodge/Evade/ THEN COUNTER 10- Extremely Powerful Attack/Block/Parry/Dodge/Evade/ THEN COUNTER
For those of you who have read this, I thank you, and applaud you. If you wish to comment, feel free to. Thank you for your time, I hope this dosent go the wrong way.

| I think it should be split into fight to the death and fight until one is knocked out or surrenders, cause people will complain if it is just fight to the death, people will keep coming up with excuses for themself not to die. Plus people don't wanna just waste a character. Have several different types. | |

| Several people said that earlier, to make a new character, because there will be a high risk of death. Good idea, though. | |

| I think you will have a big challenge against <The Merciless> Gladiator team, the team captain is Kaneas FireFury (formerly TradeFury) who has a 32-0 streak, good luck. | |

Well, on Azshara, the Merciless was a good guild (5 people, 5 v 5 teams reason etc.) we fought against eachother using the /roll system, and I nearly always won, I sometimes got badly injured, but managed to make a final devastating blow, at the end, the one who stood or collapsed the last, won.

| So overall we believe that, should their be a clear victor it shouldn't be a battle to the death, but rather to resignation or default victory? | |
